China Grill

It may not be quite the celebrity magnet it was back in virtually competition-free 1995, but that doesn’t mean this chaotic concept restaurant (one of five nationwide) is going to the dogs. That only happens at the once-monthly Dogs Gone Wild event, when party animals are encouraged to bring their pooches to dinner. And why not go wild’n’weird? Thinking out of the box has always been a winning culinary concept at China Grill, which is neither Chinese nor a grill. Popular Pan Asian-inspired dishes include Peking Duck Salad (roast duck with radicchio, frisee, toasted almonds, and fried wonton, tossed in sweet/sour tangerine dressing), Kobe beef tartare with Chinese mustard sauce, and sea salt-sprinkled crispy flash-fried spinach leaf chips, an ideal accompaniment to just about anything. For those who like to hear themselves chew, the adjacent Dragon Room is a small, soothing space serving superior sushi.
